Booty Time & Progress

So, I've mentioned that my friend, Gail comes to visit often.  Well, here is a photo of the fabric booty she brought to me.  I'm planning to start a Parts Department as described in Gwen & Freddy's book "Collaborative Quilting".   The quilts in their book feature black & white fabrics to give the eye a resting place.  Well, it looks like time to start making parts!!!   Ok, maybe I'd better explain the Parts Department, to the best of my ability.....these ladies sew up blocks, sashings and borders in sizes that are divisible by 2 and store them by size and type until they decide it's time to make a quilt.  When they want to make a quilt they then pull out their parts and arrange the parts the way that they think works best and Vuala they have a quilt!!!  It sounds very intriguing!

Mi amigo, Gail, que me visita con frecuencia trae mis compras por Internet. Este viaje me trajo la tela en colores de blanco y negro. La razón de la tela en blanco y negro es que voy a iniciar un departamento de repuestos como se describe en el libro "acolchar de colaboración" de Gwen Marston y Freddy Moran. La mayoría de los edredones en el libro utiliza la tela en blanco y negro para dar al ojo un lugar de descanso como los edredones son muy brillantes y ocupado. Por lo tanto, ahora es el momento para empezar a hacer las partes.  Ok, tal vez mejor que me explique el departamento de repuestos, lo mejor de mi capacidad ..... estas mujeres cosen los bloques, sashings y fronteras en los tamaños que son divisibles por 2 y almacenarlos por el tamaño y el tipo hasta que se decida que es tiempo para hacer una colcha. Cuando quieren hacer una colcha sacan sus partes y arreglar las partes que creen que funcionan mejor y Vualà tienen un edredón! Suena muy interesante!

And now to show the progress I've made on the Double 4 Patch/Liberated Star Project.  In the foreground on the table are the last 2 segments of the quilt, they are quilted and ready to be sown together.  In the background on the bed you might be able to discern the first 2 segments that form the top half of the quilt, they are already united and quilted, Xela is doing a very fine job of holding it down, as is her way, she is such a good helper.


Y ahora para mostrar el progreso que he hecho en el proyecto Doble 4 Patch / Estrella Liberada. En el primer plano sobre la mesa son los dos últimos segmentos de la colcha, son acolchados y listo para ser costurado juntos. En el fondo, en la cama, usted podría ver los dos primeros segmentos que forman la mitad superior de la colcha, que ya están unidos y acolchado, Xela está haciendo un buen trabajo muy fino de mantenerla pulsada, ella es una buena ayudante.

We are back from Isla Mujeres & Fast Cats is Finished

My friend, Gail, came down for a week to celebrate her birthday.  A good time was had by all!  We spent several days out on Isla Mujeres and visited other local beaches.  I finished Gail's birthday present the night before she arrived.  I was very surprised that I got it finished.  I applied the binding using a tutorial from:

The tutorial was very helpful and enabled me to completely attach the binding by sewing machine.  Gail loved her quilt and I loved making it for her.  She muled us down a desktop computer (our old one is on it's last legs - and my husband needs a computer in English - down here they come with everything in Spanish - big surprise...).  Anyway, Thanks, Gail!!  Enjoy!!

Mi amiga, Gail, vino por una semana para celebrar su cumpleaños. Un buen tiempo fue tenido por todos! Pasamos varios días en Isla Mujeres y visitamos otras playas locales. Terminé el quilt, Fast Cats, para presentar a Gail por su cumpleaños la noche antes de su llegada. Yo estaba muy sorprendido de que pude terminarlo. He aplicado el biez con la ayude de un tutorial que se encuentra aquí:

El tutorial era muy útil y me ha permitido conectar por completo el biez por la máquina de coser. Gail amaba  su quilt y me encantó haciendolo para ella. Ella nos llevó una computadora de escritorio (nuestro viejo está en sus últimas piernas  - y mi marido necesita una computadora en Inglés - aquí venden computadoras con todo en español - gran sorpresa ...). De todos modos, Gracias, Gail! Disfrute!

 This is Fast Cats.  I can tell you one way NOT to build a quilt......don't make the border before the center of the quilt......  Oh I just had kittens over getting it all together, but I did it!!!


Esto es el quilt gatos rápidos. Les puedo decir una manera de no crear una colcha ...... no hacen el borde antes de que el centro de la colcha ...... Caramba, acabo de tener gatitos tratando de unir todos los partes, pero lo hice!

Here is Fabiola.  She is waiting for THE WALK!!!  It's so much fun with the dogs on the beach.  They run, play and swim.  Both girls are expert water frisbee fetchers.  Sorry, I didn't get any action shots.

Aquí es Fabiola. Ella está esperando para la caminata! Es muy divertido con los perros en la playa. Corren, juegan y se bañan. Las dos chicas son expertas en jugando el juego de tira con el disco volador. Lo siento, no he tenido ningúnas fotos de acción.

Here are Loli and Fabiola.  Just taking a hard life easy!!!  They were pretty worn out by the time I took this photo, but I bet they would have loved one more romp on the beach, we were just about ready to catch the car ferry back to the mainland when this photo was snapped.  They were fairly dry and as sand free as they were going to get.


Éstos son Loli y Fabiola. Sólo teniendo una vida muy dura fácil! Ellas fueran bastante agotadas en el momento en que saqué esta foto, pero estoy seguro de que les hubiera gustado una otro revolcón en la playa, estábamos a punto de agarrar el ferry por Cancun cuando esta foto fue tomada. Ellos eran bastante seco y libre de la arena para el viaje de regreso.

More Progress/Más Progreso

I'm getting closer to having the top all together.  I had to do some unsewing so that slowed me down a bit.  Hope that tomorrow I've have the top finished.

La tapa del proyecto esta casi termina.  Tuve que quitar puntos hoy por esto me tardé un poquito.  Espero que mañana termino la tapa

Well, Step by Step, Inch by Inch, it's getting together.....  BTW the phone company people were here yesterday.  First, the damage assessors.  Second, the repairman that caused the damage was here for me to write a letter saying that I wanted the damages repaired.  Third, a different phone company repairman come, for I don't know what, he looked at where the lines come into the house then he looked all around outside of the house.  Then he left and didn't say a word.  I'm thinking that he is thinking he will run the phone line all the way around the opposite side of the house (the side where there aren't any high voltage electrical lines).  Anyway, it's a mystery.  A mystery as to exactly when I will have a working telephone and gas for cooking and warm showers.

Bueno, paso a paso, centímetro a centímetro, se está haciendo en conjunto ..... Por cierto, la gente de la compañía de teléfonos estaban aquí ayer. En primer lugar estaban dos hombre para investigar  los  daños. En segundo lugar el técnico que causó el daño estaba aquí para que yo podría escribir una carta diciendo que yo quería que los daños sean reparados. En tercer lugar otro hombre de la compañía telefonico vino, porque yo no sé qué, el miró, donde las líneas telefonicas entran la casa y entonces luego miró alrededor por todo el exterior de la casa. Luego se fue y no dijo una palabra. Estoy pensando que él está pensando que va a ejecutar la línea de teléfono todo el camino alrededor del lado opuesto de la casa (el lado donde no hay líneas de alto voltaje). De todos modos, es un misterio. Un misterio en cuanto a exactamente cuando voy a tener un teléfono que funcione y el gas para cocinar y tener las duchas de agua cálido.

A Better Peek

I must apologize for my photos.  My camera is NOT very advanced or are my photography skills....but here are (hopefully) some better photos of the "Liberated" Project.  I'm still pretty freaked out about the "Incident" and don't know if I can calm down enough to go do some sewing....though, it would probably help if I could....just can't think where to start....my brain is being jumpy!!

Debo disculparme por mis fotos. Mi cámara no es muy avanzado o son mis conocimientos de fotografía .... pero aquí están (con suerte) unas fotos mejores de la "liberada" del proyecto.  Todavía estoy muy asustado por el "incidente" y no sé si puedo calmarme lo suficiente como para ir a hacer algunas de coser .... sin embargo, es probable que ayudaría si pudiera .... no puedo pensar por donde empezar .... mi cerebro se está nervioso!

Here's a sneak peek at the "Liberated" Project

So I've been working very hard to get this one done on deadline......It has no background, it's simply pinned up over another WIP......BUT I'm thinking of "SCRAPPING" the old WIP and going ahead and using it for my background.....it will expedite my project......and after today I NEED a break.....

Our phone has been steadily getting worse and worse reception over the past couple of months.  No the phone lines don't work at all.  The company has had me waiting around the house for about a week.  Today the repairman arrived.  It was discovered that the line was damaged due to the construction project going on next door.  After checking and repairing where needed it was discovered that it was also necessary to replace the outside phone cables.  Unfortunately, the repairman somehow crossed the phone line with the exterior electrical line and we had a big explosion that damaged our gas line and OH Bbbbbboy  the FUN began then.  I was downstairs in the warehouse on the first floor when the electricity blew.  The guys working next door said something about the repairman up on our third floor terrace.  I raced up there to see what happened.  The repairman was OK (Thanks Goodness) BUT there was a big fire.  IT was wondering how can concrete burn....then I realized that the gas line must have been damaged in the blast.  HOKEY SMOKE.....I raced to the HUGE gas tank on our roof and turned it off....the fire stopped.....then I had a melt down......  The poor repairman was scared to death (we all were) the dogs were freaked, the cat was freaked and I just sort of felt like it was time to have one of those heart episodes....  The repairman and I went and had a nice glass of water and a sit down as we both thanked our lucky stars that it wasn't worse than it was.  Not to sound terribly ungrateful to still be in the land of the living.....BUT now I have NO phone and NO gas......thanks goodness for the microwave and my crappy little cell phone.....  BTW my husband is out of town....the last time he went out of town the electricity went out.....what's going to happen the next time he leaves?????

Así que he estado trabajando muy duro para conseguir este hecho en un plazo de ...... No tiene fondo, es simplemente clavada sobre otro WIP ...... pero estoy pensando en "el desguace" de la vieja WIP y seguir adelante y usarlo para mi fondo ..... que acelerará mi proyecto ...... y después de hoy necesito un descanso .....
Nuestro teléfono no ha dejado de obtener la recepción de mal en peor en el último par de meses. Ahora las líneas telefónicas no funcionan en absoluto. La empresa me ha tenido esperando en la casa durante una semana. Hoy en día el técnico llegó. Se descubrió que la línea fue dañada por el proyecto de construcción va a la puerta de al lado. Después de comprobar y reparar en caso necesario, se descubrió que también era necesario para reemplazar los cables de teléfono externo. Por desgracia, el reparador de alguna manera, cruzó la línea de teléfono con la línea exterior eléctrico y tuvimos una gran explosión que dañó nuestra línea de gas y OH Bbbbbboy comenzó la diversión a continuación. Yo estaba abajo en el almacén en el primer piso cuando la electricidad explotó. Los chicos que trabajan al lado dijo algo sobre el técnico arriba en la terraza del tercer piso. Corrí hasta allí para ver qué pasaba. El técnico estaba bien (Gracias a Dios,), pero hubo un gran incendio. TI se preguntan cómo puede quemar .... concreta luego me di cuenta de que la tubería de gas debe haber sido dañado en la explosión. HUMO HOKEY ..... corrí al tanque de gas enorme en el tejado y lo apagó el fuego se detuvo .... ..... luego tuve un colapso ...... El reparador de los pobres tenía miedo a la muerte (todos lo eran) los perros estaban asustados, el gato se asustó y yo sólo una especie de ganas de que era hora de tener uno de esos episodios cardíacos .... El técnico y yo fuimos y tenía un buen vaso de agua y se sientan uno a medida que tanto dio las gracias a nuestra buena estrella que no era peor de lo que era. No quiero parecer terriblemente ingrata todavía para estar en la tierra de los vivos ..... pero ahora no tengo teléfono y gas NO ...... bueno gracias por el horno de microondas y el teléfono celular poco de mierda ..... Por cierto, mi marido está fuera de la ciudad .... la última vez que salió de la ciudad la electricidad se fue ..... lo que va a ocurrir la próxima vez que sale???
