Magic Carpet Ride

On my birthday (Nov 9) I gave myself the gift of allowing myself to start a new project. The project itself is a real cop out. I have purchased the fabric to copy exactly a Kaffe Fassett quilt called “Magic Carpet”. I don't know why but every now and then I like to have a brainless project. That is, a project that I don't have to make any decisions - I just sew. Well, this is a very easy project and the top blocks are all now sown. Now I'm working on the bottom blocks. Guess what I'm making for the bottom blocks.....The “Many Scrappy Trip” blocks for the quilt back. It has been a gas!!! I'm making the blocks with almost all Kaffe Fassett fabrics and it is the “Chaos” style like the quilt that I made for my friend Betty who lives on Sanibel Island. I have decided that this block is a good one for the backs of my quilts. I have two rows of blocks all assembled and quilted in the “Quilt As You Go” method. All the bottom blocks are completed I just have to sandwich each block, quilt each block, assemble the blocks, quilt in between the joins of the assembled blocks, put on the borders for the front and back of the quilt and quilt those and then bind.....

El regalo que me di a mi mismo para mi cumpleaños el 9 de noviembre, fue el permiso de empezar un proyecto nuevo. El proyecto es muy sencillo. Hace un tiempo atrás compré las telas para copiar un diseño de quilt por Kaffe Fassett que se llama “Magic Carpet”. No se por qué, pero cada vez en cuando me gusta hacer un proyecto que no requiere pensamiento. No tengo que hacer decisiones, solo coser. Este proyecto es muy fácil y todos los bloques para la tapa están terminados. Ahora estoy trabajando en los bloques para la espalda del quilt. Adivina que yo hago…..Más bloques de “Many Scrappy Trips” para la espalda. Y estoy disfrutando mucho!! Estoy usando las telas del diseñador Kaffe Fassett casi exclusivamente y estan en el estilo “Caos” como yo hice para mi amigo Betty que vive en Isla Sanibel. Este bloque es bueno para mis quilts de dos vistas. Tengo dos tiras ya terminado usando el método de “Quilt As You Go”. Los únicos cosas que se queda para hacer es hacer los bloques en sándwich, quiltear los bloques, juntar los bloques, quiltear más después de juntar bloques, aumentar los borderes por tapa y espalda, quiltear los borderes y entonces poner el biez…..
