I'm going to Mexico City to the Quilt Expo!!

Yep, I've purchased airfare and am staying with a friend that has an apartment fairly close to the Expo.  We are in a group of women that makes small quilts, we call our endeavor "Proyecto 8 X 11" 'cuz that's the size of our projects.  We take turns selecting the themes for the little quilties!!  And we are exhibiting them at the Expo.   Some of these little quilts have been posted before.   Enjoy!

Sew.......I'm just not getting much accomplished in my sewing room

but here is a little offering......I'm just sort of stuck on working with the hexagons in the few minutes of sitting down time I have these days......I've been making my "petals" but I did manage to produce some flowers in the last couple of days - so here they are.
Ok, here is a progress report.

Before:

After:
 light
 Medium

Sew you can see I have added to my background hexagons for the project that will be based on this idea:
only the final outcome will be much bigger!!!

OH and I did make this apron:

It's reversible.....I love it!  I'm wearing it as I make this post!

Life! 8 X 11 Project and Scrappy Trips

I have finally gotten this down from my design wall and am finishing the lettering.  The "Be Sunny" letters are made - now I just have to sew them onto the little quilt and bat and quilt and bind the little feller!  This project is long past due to be completed.....ARG!!

And this old project.....I'm going to just finishe this and NOT make more blocks.  It can be something to go on a table.  I just simply have to start finishing all my ancient UFO's!  That's my goal for 2014 to cut my UFO count down by a third at least - if I'm very good.

Sewing Together and Getting a Feel For the Colors

the photo really tells the story......these background greens are all in my "Light Green Box" and if you notice the inner round of  "light greens" on the top flower are the lightest.....I tried to put the 'darker' lights on the outside round.....  Then on the bottom flower those greens are all my 'darker' lights......

right now I have a

Light Green Hexagon Box
Medium Greem Hexagon Box
and a
Dark Green Hexagon Box

You can see in the photo that there is a fine line between some of the light and medium greens - well maybe you could if I was a better photographer.

SO, I think I need a:

Light Green Hexagon Box
Light Medium Green Hexagon Box
Medium Green Hexagon Box
Dark Medium Hexagon Box
and a
Dark Green Hexagon Box

then I will probably find a need for more Green Hexagon Boxes.......

but I'm learning all the time!!!   I'm learning that I'm going to need a lot more greens!!!!

Those Crazy Hexies!!

Just playing around with my "Petals" or my "Tesoros" (that's treasures in English).  I'm still just making the hexagons but I thought I'd see about testing a possibility that's been in the back of my big dumb head!!!  And I'm liking it.....but think I'm gonna need a LOT more "Petals" and pins......!!!   I have a plastic bin of lovely green fabric......wouldn't you know it's under other bins of different color fabric and on top if that is a whole heap of loose fabric.......sometimes it be's that way........Oh I need shelving!!!!

Meet Josephine!

I was 4 years old when my mom purchased this beauty!  I finally got her all refurbished and she works like a charm!!  I learned to sew on 'Josephine'.  Josephine is my mom's middle name........sew Josephine is named after her.

Long Time - No Post

Yes it's been ages since I blogged.......sorry.....but I've had a spot of bother.   I had surgery for my Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.....and leading up to the surgery my hand hurt a bit and now I'm recuperating.....but it's all going to be so much better!!!  Now here is the "Sparkle" quilt top assembled to the point of ready to batt and quilt.  And I was practicing up on my free motion quilting until this surgery thing happened....now I have to wait a bit longer to start the practicing again.
The First Back Segment is assembled & the Second one too.....just couldn't locate a photo - which I know I hhave!!!....somewhere....
Then in between all of the above I've been captured by the 'English Paper Pieceing' technique.  It's a great hand project that is so very portable.  I'm in the process of converting my scraps into hexagons and am saving them up for a number of ideas.
It's so relaxing for me to just sit and cover 'petals' while watching TV in the evening
or if I'm out and find myself waiting around for this that or the other I have a little kit in my purse just to take out and entertain myself......someday I'll have a finished product - or not!
